Annetta Laufer

"EXPLORING THE SPACE BETWEEN OPPOSITES" Writer/Director Annetta is the founder of Roman Candle Productions, a film production company focused on black and female–led stories. Her short films have (...) screened at national and international film festivals including Encounters Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, Aesthetica Film Festival, Pan African Film Festival, Uppsala Film Festival and the American Black Film Festival. Annetta is currently developing her debut feature film WILD SWIMMING with producer Yvonne Isimeme Ibazebo and Film Four, UK. She is also developing her second feature film MOTHER COUNTRY, a drama set within the Caribbean community in 1960s Soho London, with the BFI and producer Joy Gharoro Akpojotor. Her TV directing credits includes Marlon James/HBO series 'Get Millie Black', BBC's Doctor Who New Years's Special 'Eve of the Daleks' and period drama 'The Forsytes' produced by Mammoth Screen/PBS America. "I feel now more than ever, that our current global politics is calling me to create work that celebrates the ‘different’, the ‘unusual’ and the ‘foreign’."
